Announcing...YOI Ship Bingo!

Welcome to Yuri!!! On Ice Ship Bingo Challenge

What is YOI Ship Bingo?

YOI Ship Bingo was created by the mods at [community profile] yurionicefans. There are various fandom bingo challenges that include tropes, kinks, or prompts. We wanted to do something different that focused specifically on YOI pairings and relationships, both romantic and platonic. Our goal is to inspire creators to explore both well known and lesser known relationships in the YOI fandom.

This can be a way for writers and artists to try different things, to hone their art, to get out of a rut, to venture outside their comfort zone, or try something they've always wanted to but maybe didn't have the courage to in a low pressure environment.

The fundamental goal of the game is to make a bingo on your card. You can do this by making a line (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally), a blackout (every single square), an X pattern, a + pattern, or a simultaneous double line. Bingos consist of multiple fanworks made in response to multiple prompts from your bingo card. A bingo can be any mix of fic or art; for example, you could use three stories, a set of five icons, and a songmix, and that would count as a bingo.

A story/artpiece/etc should be readable/viewable as a stand-alone work for those browsing through the tags by pairing or content, but it can be part of a series as long as it will make sense on its own. So, sequels and prequels to previously posted works are allowed.

We have an open, unmoderated collection set up at Archive of our Own. If you post your works to AO3, please add it to the collection:YOI_Ship_Bingo.

You can post your fills to whatever platform you wish. The only requirement is that it be publicly accessible so the links from the community are available to all members and non-members.

Once you have completed a piece from your bingo card, you should post your fills to the Dreamwidth Community, using the HTML posting format. You do not have to wait until you have a bingo to share a work.

If you choose to participate without a DW account (you must at least have a tumblr or AO3 account), then you can either email your fills--still using the HTML posting format--to the mod email (yurionicemods@gmail.com) and we will use the mod account to post your bingo to the community OR post your fill to Tumblr with the tag #yoishipbingo and we will reblog it. We will only be tracking this tag, so it's important to use it! If you wish,we will also share it on our DW comm.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I interpret the pairing?
The pairings can be either romantic or platonic.

Does the pairing have to be incorporated into the entire work?

That pairing must be the featured pairing.

Can the same fic be used for more than one bingo square?
We won't say no, but it is discouraged - we want to encourage creating more works with different pairings!

Is there a minimum/maximum length?
Minimum word count is 500 words, and any other fanwork should be of minimum equivalent effort.

What if I get a pairing I really hate and/or are uncomfortable with and/or can't do?
You have a couple of options. First, we encourage you to interpret pairings however you like, so you might find a "non-obvious" way to work with the pairing you were given (for example, you could write about JJ and Georgi as rivals as opposed to friends or lovers). Second, you can ask for a completely new bingo card and we will generate a new one for you.

How do I post?
Whenever you finish a prompt, you can post it to this comm, using the following (suggested) format:

Bingo Square:

HTML available here:

You may deviate from the suggested format, but please don’t forget to mention the bingo square(s) you’re filling so we can tag properly! You are also free to crosspost your work wherever you'd like.

Can I use my YOI Ship Bingo creation for other challenges?

Yes! This challenge is designed to fit into your other projects. You cannot use a creation that has been previously posted, though.

What's the timeline for this challenge?

Sign Ups: July 15 through October 31, 2017
Cards Go Out: Within 6 days of your sign up.
Deadline: December 31, 2017

You can start posting as soon as you get your card and have the rest of the year to get through as many of them as you want/can.

How do I win?
Like traditional Bingo you can make all kinds of different lines or shapes (- | / \ + L etc.) or you can go for a full blackout of your card and do all the pairings. You don't need to wait until you have a line to post your creation though; we encourage you to post as you go.

What do I get if I complete a Bingo line/the whole card?

Everyone who gets a bingo will receive a participant banner. Additionally, anyone who completes a blackout bingo will receive a personalized banner with a pairing of their choice featured or artwork of their choice if artist permission is granted.

This all sounds awesome, now how do I sign up?

You can sign up at the Sign Up Post, which will open on July 15, 2017. You can comment on the Sign Up Post or email the mods at yurionicemods@gmail.com

I've finished my card, can I have another one?

Yes, you amazing person! Just leave a request at the Sign Up Post.

How do I contact a mod?
You can leave a comment here or message [community profile] yurionicefans and a mod will get back to you. You can also find us at yurionicemods@gmail.com or on Tumblr @[tumblr.com profile] yurionice-fans .

Don't hesitate to ask a mod if you've got further questions.

Other Guidelines

• This bingo challenge will follow our Community Guidelines so if you are unfamiliar with them please make sure to read them over.
Any flaming or wank of any kind will result in removal from the challenge and possible ban from the community.
• Since we will be encouraging everyone to post to Archive of our Own, we will only require AO3's standard warnings: Rape/Non-Con, Underage, Graphic Descriptions of Violence, and Major Character Death. If none of these apply, you should label your fanwork as "No Warnings Apply." If you choose not to warn, you MUST label your fanwork "Choose not to warn." We highly recommend that you mention any other contents that are common dislikes or squicks, though that is not necessarily required. It's nice to be considerate of others. :)
• If the mods are informed that a fanwork posted to the community does not follow these guidelines, we will take action, from commenting asking for the change, up to and including deleting the offending post.
• Most importantly, have fun! Yuri On Ice is a great fandom and we are excited to have the opportunity to help add to the fanworks collection!

Rules/guidelines were inspired from

Please note that as more questions come in this post will be updated to reflect that!
